After a week of it dumping snow we headed out sat morning in perfect blue skis, only to find our snowpark jammed with sledders with the same idea. We crawled our way up the bumpy trail (grooming has stopped for the year) passing hoards of sledders. My son, riding ahead of me, arrived at a turnoff to one of our favorite play spots (snake pit) and we were hopefull to see no tracks. We broke trail in and arrived to the bowl to see it was untouched. Under perfect blue skies we bashed at it for three hours, all to ourselves. Takinf turns, one difficult climb out took us 1 1/2 hours to finally make. All the while we could hear the whine of two strokes the next ridge over. Finally around noon a throng of 12 smokers lined their way in from the top. Party was over. When we left we passed hill after hill that was completely hammered. A true gift from god.

Yea. I took some video when we just dropped in, but the snow was so great it was killing me to sit there taping. We'll try and put it together.
Other part of the day was Spencer. Spencer has a Ton with the "mods" but has an apex tunnel, apex skid, 162x16 rt track, and fat skis. He bought an M7 for his girlfriend, and made the mistake of jumping on it. He immediately hated his Ton, and was urgently trying to put together a deal on a holdover M8. After trouncing the "snake pit" we met up with Spencer, on his girl's M7, in the bottom of our biggest, baddest, "superbowl". We started matching lines in fresh snow. He was suprised to see the M7 was no match for our tons (which is what we've always experienced). He was turning out 3/4 the way up our lines. He went and got his ton, and it fell well short of the M7 lines. He jumped on my sled (he's a bigger boy) and he matched our lines. He came back shaking his head on how well it climbed and how light it handled. He picked up a M1000 suspension on Sunday. We'll see what it does. Moral. Little things make a big difference. We had an identical Ton getting whooped by the other Ton's in McCall. Only difference, non-stock gearing (lower) and a team secondary. He just picked up some stock gears.

Hey Joel,
How can lower gearig hurt the sleds peformance? He should be able to pull better with the lower gearing then the ones running stock.
I've been tossing the idea of going with a 159X15 track this summer and dropping to 19/40 gearing. What all are you guys that out perform run?
Thanks for any input. I'll have to go back and reread your post on all the mods.

I went from 21/40 to 19/40 this year on my 159 and my track speed while climbing was really low, I am going to try 20/40 next season to see if I can get the track speed back up.

What are you all seeing for trackspeed while climbing. I am running a 162x16x2.3 and it seems to like 19-43 gearing but I am running a Heelclicker Clutch kit in the primary. I forgot what helix in secondary. Later, Justin

Youtube keeps deleting it for copyright infringement (music) so I'm trying yahoo. My son has a video for this year made up I'll post shortly. It has some video from this ride. We rode in the sun this past Sunday. Awesome spring riding, and snow all the way to the snopark.

Did any of you guys with tons notice that they are a bit hard to turn the skis when they are stock? I have a completely stock one besides the mountain skis, reverse, and extra rad but mine is sometimes the devil to turn when driving really slow. I'm not into spending a whole nuch of money on the situation atm because I'm off to college in about a year and a half so is there any quick, cheap and easy way so fix this problem if you know any thing about it?

those bushings are covered in grease and antiseize but I will try that. Sometimes when the steering is hard to turn there is a very loud scroop that sounds like it's coming from just under the plastic by the handle bars. What causes this?
