Haven't ridden it yet, 12 apex xtx, but the windshield looks awfully low. Kinda like how my nytro came stock. What is the best windshield that has good wind protection but doesn't make me look like a dosch out on the trails? Thanks

I like a taller windshield too, but I'm gonna ride this Apex 1st before swapping out shields. I hear the stock one is pretty good.......

The stock windshield that comes on the 11' and newer works very well for wind protection. I just painted mine to make it look cooler in my opinion.

Ok I can start with the stock one. How about handguards. Looking at the stock windshield it definitely doesn't cover up your hands

Are you looking at the rigid type, or the soft type ? I have run both, and the soft type offer more wind protection.
I have the Skinz Trail model on both sleds, very happy with them.

I don't have hand guards. The angle of the windshield pretty much diverts the majority of wind away from your hands.

I have the 12 xtx and put about 1000 miles on last year with the stock windshield . I am pretty happy with it but I keep a set of the yamaha soft velcrow on hand guards with for just in case. didnt need them last year. also the trunk stays warm enuff to make soup. I think i will just keep a spare set of gloves in there and change if i get a little chilled.

Stock windshield works great, added Yamaha soft hand guards which are awesome, much better protection from the cold then hand guards of the past, no need for muffs.

I too have not ridden mine, so "for what its worth".

I have an Iso-vibe riser (about an extra 3") so my hands are placed in the airstream. I liked the PowerMadd guards with the mirrors on my Attak so they were moved over to my SE before I sold the Attak. Both machines had/have the stock shields.

I found that the stock shield didn't provid me with enough wind protection and swapped it out for the "Supershield" from Yamaha. I believe there are only 2 windshields offered by Yamaha for the newer (2011 and up) Apexes. Apparently with some swapping of other parts from the older Apexes, the older design shields can be made to work.

Here's a couple of pics of the Supershield on my sled, along with a couple of Arctic Cat mirrors installed on the shield.

I ran the same set up.

i have an 11 apex se and the windsheild works really well for winder protection. A guy i ride with has a 07 lower one and i notice a huge difference in the 2. I really think the 11 is a good windshield
