jb weld is your friend. by cleaning it up like you did i bet you can forget about it leaking again. did the same repair on mine and never had any issues with leaks. great stuff

Sorry to hear about the problem you had with the sled. i gave up buying used equipment years ago for the same reason. Unless you know the seller, you will always be taking a risk. The guy obviously knew about the problem and didn't care about the buyer.
As long as you cleaned the tank really well and it was oil residue free before you put the JB Weld on it, you should be fine. BUT, keep an eye on it. There is no low oil cutoff on these engines, just the warning light. It is unlikely you will suffer a huge leak instantly but if you see any evidence of a leak, quit riding it until you can repair it again.
Maybe a member of the site can "pay it forward" and loan you a tank?

I bought my 11 apex used from a Yamaha dealer!! I asked how was the track. He sends me perfect pixs.... Get it home track is shoot. Massive chunks missing out of it. Then the read shock is shoot.

The track & rear shock are shot on a 2011!!!! Woa, she bin rid'n pretty hard I would presume. I believe it is the dealers responsibility to disclose any problems with the sled. Did you ask him if he would help out with the cost of track/repair or replace shock?Daranello said:

Shock I'm trying to get warranty. Track I was changing anyways to an iceattack XT. If I don't get it covered under warranty then poo will hit the fan

Ya being that new & all they better cover it! If they cover the track maybe you can upgrade to the track you want
