Oil leak on 2013 apex

Oops, thats the water pump, first time i tear one down, still cant find anything,i will install new filter, fill the oil and start it without the airbox so i can see something, only thing i can think of

If you tip the sled always do it with the oil tank on the low side.

Put a new filter, filled oil ,fired it up with the airbox removed so i can see,no leaks anywhere,it ran for 15 minutes so it got hot enough, underneath thru the access door i can see 1 bolt from the bottom of the engine that there is a little oil around it,but i cant access it to see if its loose, thinking of drilling a hole to get at it,but while it was running i looked from underneath and didnt see any oil coming out, really confusing

To be honest, dont even know if thats the oilpump
That canister in your pic is actually an oil cooler. There's an o-ring that seals the canister to the block and another o-ring that seals the large bolt to the canister. If the bolt was loose, it could have allowed oil to leak. It may not be a bad idea to replace those o-rings! I'm glad you caught the leak before a catastrophe struck!

So that bolt must be tight with the tabs bent on the washer, just not sure why its loose,
Makes me wonder if that bolt wasn't tinkered with before you got the sled??

Older turbo kits used to have an adapter in between the block and oil cooler to pick up an oil supply for the turbo. That's the only reason I can think of for someone having it off, but most (all?) of the new kits 'T' off the oil pressure sensor so I doubt this would be the reason. It would also be pretty obvious if your sled had a turbo on it in a previous life.

Regardless, that sucker needs to be tight.

Thank you, helps alot, bought the sled with 500 miles on it,its mint, you can tell, everything is new,so not sure why this happened

i gave almost 2 turns to that bolt on the oil cooler, somebody must of tinkered with that,i wonder if its ever happened to somebody else, will try it tonight to see if it leaks again

i would think you will be good now, especially if it took 2 turns to tighten it up. Glad you found the problem. i know i will be checking mine just in case, next time i'm in there

I rode 60 miles last night after work,it didnt leak at all,i am still confused as why that bolt was loose, everytime i do an oil change from now on i will throw a wrench on it to make sure,by the way,you need a 36 mm wrench, not much room but just enough to get the wrench on,thanks to all who replied
