I was recommended a big air filter kit for my MCX rear mount apex that replaces the smaller filter. From what I understand it routes the filter outside of the plastic exhaust cover. Vernon Motorsports has these. Any buy one? Wondering on cost and if anyone has the specs to make my own kit.

I made one for my Bender rear mount with a 2 and 1/4 inch elbow and a silicone coupler-easy.

Wondering what size air filter they recommend?

Also what happens if that air filter comes off in a crash/roll/etc with the turbo still spinning? With the filter more exposed doesn't that open the chances of ripping it off and sucking some chit through the turbo?

As far as the air inlet of the filter, as long as it's the same size as the turbo inlet or bigger it should be fine. When I get around to it, I will upload a pic of my sled's filter location.

Hers's what I did for my Bender rear mount. Made a huge difference in performance consistency.

Where do you guys get your filters at? Called everywhere in spokane, no one even carries anything like that. 10 days to get it ordered. Talking about K&N RU-1770. Anyone know where I can get one? More available in Canada?

I think Outlaw Motor Sports in Enterprise, Or is stocking them. 541-426-3491. Your local NAPA can get them also.

UH! My local NAPA could, but Outlaw is cheaper so I bought them here.

The big filter setup really woke up my sled. Real crisp now. Ran great today. Snow wasn't over the hood deep, so we'll see what happens then. But ran like a champ today with the big filter.
