I have been running Big Blue since 2005. I installed a Bender Clutch Kit. ECP Intake with Velocity stacks and an Ice Ripper track. The sled is well maintained with suspension parts replaced as needed, proper storage etc. I bought an FX Nytro and and beat the o'l RX-1 on the Lake handily. In fact another FX Nytro and clutched Fire Cat 600 smoked the RX as well. My buddy who was driving it was shocked. I rode it .....same thing works well, feels strong but seems a little soft out of the corners and i can not get past 98. Last year I took APEX''s and some DOO 800Rs.
It has a new belt so all I can think of is the clutch springs are soft ( never changed them in five years), carb synchronization and valve adjustment/cleaning. I have 6900 miles. Any have some suggestions? Do the clutch springs eventually fail....it would seem logical?

What RPM were you turning ? Improperly seated air cleaner boots can cause low RPMs and a drop in performance.

Thanks for the tip. I have had problems seating those in the past but I did not check to see if that was the problem. I'll bet anything between that and old pre filters I am losing rpms.
