I think I have no choice but to try it. I am about 190 without gear. Last week they cranked up the spring over a half inch. It still bottoms out over big bumps. I can't count how many scratch lines are now on the plate at the back of the tunnel under the exhaust from the studs. Could this be from the belt ballooning up?

My only concern is loosing the soft ride when I want to set the Mono shock to soft for normal trails. Presently I am 5 clicks off hard and while setting it to 0 clicks it only made the sled handle like crap.

I do have to say the Electronic part works awesome. Man, you can really see a difference from soft to hard and it can be done on the fly. If they could do something like that with the front shocks that would be the bomb!

I don't want this sled to be like the SRX or the Viper before the Updated shocks.

Will this resolve my issue?

Thanks,

-Moose

I weigh 285 w/o gear . That spring is terrible, destroyed the ride I can not get if off fast enough.

I just ordered one from Kevin at Port Yamaha. He took the time to explain to me all the settings and what they do. He seems to really know his stuff. ;)!

They do a great job supporting this site so I decided to throw them some business instead of my local dealer.

Thanks everyone for the responses!

I have a 06 Rage and put the "big boy spring" on an it made a big difference. I weigh in at 250 lbs. with out suit. :exc: The stock spring is 49.0 N/MM and I put on a 68.6 N/MM. With the stock spring it would sag just sitting on it an I had it on 1st c-clip and cam turned to 6. With the new spring I have it on 1st c-clip and cam turned to 1 an it sags just a little. Just wish I had some snow to ride it on. :o| :rocks: :yam:

I have the 7.0 spring for apx gt. It is ideal for someone who is 260lbs+ It is for sale in classified section. Tad to stiff for me (245lbs.)

Shock can't do its job if you have the wrong spring. I'm, 210 and the stiffer spring is still just alittle soft.
Hey dog,i think the shock needs to have its compression stack changed to a stiffer stack,my little buddy is only 150# dry and he rides very agressive and he is generally jumping roads, but w/his apex gt it bottoms so bad he is afraid to jump for fear of trashing the sled,so he installed the 5.5 spring, now its better he saids but still not quite the ticket,he wants to have someone revalve it,but you must send it out to one of yammis aftermarket co. that they want to do it.

190# should be just right for the 5.5kg. spring.
I am 230# the 6.4kg. is just a little heavy but nice.
Hey power,do you have the GT,if so how did you get the spring w/that rate, they have the ohlins listed at 4.9,5.5 and 7.1 is the 6.4 for the ohlins,if so that might of been a better choice for my bud. As he has the 5.5 preloaded as far as he could go,and the compression all the way high.

I am an Ohlins dealer, I checked US stock for what was available and that was one of the choices.
Via special order springs are avail. in .2-.3 increments from Ohlins.
Last I checked there were very few springs in the US

Help!!!!!!!!!!

I have the Optional 5.5 Ohlins spring set to an installed length of 10 3/8 inches, compression up and it bottoms easy. I weigh 230 naked, 250 dressed. This is very disappointing. I can't really ride it in the rougth stuff since it bottoms so bad. Do I need to get the European spec spring?

I just came in from a ride with the fat boy spring installed and it was great same ride as before but just a little bit stiffer on the jumps. Perfect for me I am about 230 with the gear on......... I only wish I had my camera on the trails this a.m, i got some major unexpected air on the apex, this thing flies great through the air..........
