Are you involved w/either bender or pioneer, and do you revalve the ohlins to whatever a customer wants, and do you have any advise for someone who has the apex GT and wants to jump roads and ride very agressive and who weighs 160# suited up.. thanksPOWERHAULIC said:I am an Ohlins dealer, I checked US stock for what was available and that was one of the choices.
Via special order springs are avail. in .2-.3 increments from Ohlins.
Last I checked there were very few springs in the US

is this a problem for ONLY 'GT' owners, or do guys with RTX's have this problem.
I weigh 210lbs without gear, and find my RTX just fine.

GT's are sprung quite softly, and spring is different from all other models.
I am a dealer for Bender and Maxx. perf. and Ohlins, among others
As for 160# person jumping, I would leave the valving alone and install the 5.5kg. spring.
I also have one for sale in the classified section.

Go for the european spec.mnmsnowbeast said:do you have any advise for someone who has the apex GT and wants to jump roads and ride very agressive and who weighs 160# suited up.. thanks
In my opinion, if you are jumping roads and ride very aggressive, you will need this spec or something similar. Even if you are a lightweight person.
You should be able to get the full information about this spec from either Yamaha or from Ohlins USA.

wITH THE HEAVIER SPRING IN THE GT DO YOU STILL SET THE RIDE HEIGHT THE SAME WAY? 40-45MM OF SIT IN?

Yes, 40-45 mm of sit in ("sag with rider") is critical for good suspension function.
A softer spring will require more preload (shorter installed length) to get the 40-45 mm of sit in.
A stiffer spring will require less preload (longer installed length) to get the 40-45 mm of sit in.
A lightweight person will only require a small amount of preload if he is using the stiffest spring option (yet, in my opinion, if he is a very aggressive rider he will need it to avoid bottoming out in the g-outs).
