Black Seat

A little off topic but does anyone else wonder why the gray part of the seat is a different material than say the red or blue in the other seats? The gray is hard to keep clean, the red/blue are leather/vinyl and much easier to keep clean. I think I am gonna black mine out too, thanks for all of the pics and info.

I just painted mine and it looks sweet.
Thanks for posting this thread. I just saved $100 on a new seat cover

I have a "SE" with the blue and black combo....

are you guys painting the entire seat or just the blue part???

i think all the nytro's have the same seat material or is the "se" different???

did this on a rev a couple yrs ago and worked out well

also are you using a "satin" black or "gloss black"

just want it too look right the first time as I want to black out my whole sled

thanks
Jammie

I masked the blue portions off, and painted with a satin black. IMO, it matches perfect. This was on a blue 09 xtx seat, which is identical to the SE seat.

BIG TIME....

Thanks thats exactly what I was looking for Im thinking about painting all the blue on my sled black because I ride with two other guys with nytro "se"'s also and want mine to look different then theirs ....

I also had all my plastics painted black before I put my graphics on. Should look sweet, good luck!

yeah thats my plan i work for a jeep dealership and have a bodyshop on site, they are painting my kids xc 120 yamaha blue as we speak , well "santa is painting it" now so as soon as i get that one done ill give them my hood and dash peices to paint...

thanks
Jammie

How many coats of paint did you guys put on initially the first time?

I applied 2 coats, 1 to cover and the second to clean up any spots I missed. I'm not sure this is the correct way to do it, but that's the way I did it. I have no riding time on this yet, so I am not sure how it will hold up.

Here is a Yamaha custom seat cover and my custom 2" seat rise. The cover was folded up in a box thus the slight wrinkle on the bottom.
