I've got a little problem. My D-light is blinking while I'm driving and sometimes it stops completely. When it's standing still the D is shining. When riding in snow or up a hill the drive releases and a "gear-cracking-noise" appears, like when you miss a gear on a manual car.

Has anoyone had the same problem? Does Yamaha fix it on the warranty, otherwise it sounds very expensive :(

I apologize for the bad spelling, english isn't my native language :)

I would guess that your secondary clutch needs shimming. seems right on the edge of popping out of drive. Could be a faulty servo as well. Either way, I would take it to the dealer if you are under warranty still.

My 07 fx is starting to act up switching between forward and reverse. I have to rock the sled most of the time to get it to engage. I could shim the secondary myself. But the dealer is going to do fan and updatedlink at same time.

good luck

Well yamaha might be having a rash soon mine just did the same thing last weekend, first of all i have always had to rock the sled into reverse but last weekend it would not go in no matter what-so i rode it still after mentioning it to dealer-then i started to notice a rattle at higher rpms so i tightened track and chain case chain-4 turns to be exact kind of weird and scary, When i went to put the sled in reverse it went right into gear but when i gave it throttle nothing but metal grinding and no movement so i went forward and it was ok again. So i went out and rode it coming down the mountain side all of a sudden my track locked up and almost tossed me. It will not go over 8 mphs with out some bad noise from gearbox/chaincase. :moon:

Doesn't sound to good. I've put my sled away, awaiting repair, don't wanna destroy anything

Turns out there wasnt a lick of oil in the chaincase-cracked seal and mus ot leaked out slowly. Kinda weird though case its always parked in garage and there has never been a puddle on the floor. But all in all the bearings are toast, top gear and chain toast. Thought it was odd that the tensioner went in 4 turns-that was 20 miles before all broke loose.

Mine was covered. I believe the gear ( not sure the name ) for foward and reverse were not lined up perfectly from the factory. Mine did the same thing but got really bad by the time I got home. I complained like everybody else about my brand new machine not going into reverse, even with rocking it. Now it is better It. Basically it was stripped out.
