How many of you guys run blow off valve. What are the advantages over the waste gate. I have a powder lites Nytro. With waste gate only.

If you run a Powderlites Nytro, you already have both.the waste gate controls the boost at the exhaust and the blow off controls spikes in the intercooler

Wastegate will maintain pressure via turbo spooldown bypoassing exhaust gases. and avoid overspeeding turbo for the required boost level.
Blow off valve will control surge on quick throttle release by lettin pressure off the intercooler's air tank

nytrochris - The wastegate is internal on the turbo and is controlled by the waste gate actuator which in turn are controlled directly by the boost pressure in your system, by variating how much the WG is open the actuator will keep boost at the set pressure level +/- some.
The Blow Off Valve reacts on vacuum in the intake tracts, as soon as you shut the throttles close there will be vacuum in the intake tracts on the inside of the throttle bodies, this vacuum is what opens the BOV and bleeds off air to atmosphere to keep the pressure in the charge tube from turning around and leaveing out thru the turbine, if it does your compressor wheel will stop and you will have flutter. When this flutter happens the compressor wheel stalls and it will take some time to spool it up to operating speed again, this will cause turbo lag.
Hope you got your question answered, and then some
