This Fall I put a 144x2" Challenger track on my Nytro XTX. About 400 miles into this season I was was accelarating up a hill and the belt blew (put the belt on this fall).

What could have caused this belt to blow so soon?

Gearing?
Track Tension?
Fluke Belt?

excessive heat- track should have nothing to do with it. Where the clutch's hot when you were removing the left over belt?

Did you change your gearing with that big track?? I am running a 144x2 challenger as well geared 19/39.

The clutches were not hot, I was able to touch them the second I took the side panel off. I did not regear the sled, but after doing research on here, I plan on it. Not sure whether to go 19/39 or 20/39 though.

The sled has 2900 miles on it, the first belt blew at about 2500 miles (this happened before the track swap.)

With a 144x2 I would go 19/39 for sure. You are not going to loose any top end, you already lost it when you put the big track on. So you might as well enjoy the bottom end benefits. I'm not sure it is the reason your belt blew you might have something else going on, but having the proper gearing for your track will allow the clutches to work efficiently.

....this is assuming you didn't go to 8t drivers.
