The problem has not been really found. Checked the entire harness for any damage and nothing! Runs perfect and no problems. I sure hope it was my handwarmers if anything? Just did my update.. It takes a good short to wipe a 20 amp fuse.

Do you have an electric shield plug wired into the system? These can short internally and a dead short will wipe out whatever fuse that is in the circuit.

Ditto to above on shield plug.
Had that problem blowing ignition fuse a few years ago on a 600 Deluxe.

Yes, did have the electric shield wired to the system. it was connected to the 8mm bolt next to the main fuse and grounded to chassis. However it does not make any sense why it would blow an ignition fuse.

Probably a wire with damaged insulation. I would keep lookin' til I found it or knew all wires in the circuit are good. Loose connections could also cause a high current. Check and clean any connection points in the circuit. Wire the E-shield direct to the battery, with a fuse at the battery. This takes it totally out of the troubleshooting scope.

would a loose connection to a starter by main fuse cause a short?

Loose connection is NOT a short. But it could cause a high current condition. If the current exceeded the fuse value, it would blow the fuse.
