2014 viper mtx162 mcx190 turbo
hey so picked this viper up at the end of the season it's a 2014 Yamaha viper Xtx stretched out to a 163, it has a 190 hp mcx turbo on it, I am new to turbos so any help will be appreciated, and new to Yamaha I've been riding Polaris my whole life but I'm sick of looking at the motor in pieces haha
But as you can see in the video it turns off when revving it up video link here

Help please!!

Nice sled! In the video it just died out. Sounded like it wasn't getting fuel. Start with basics. Fuel,Spark, air Shouldn't need boost to idle.

It idles fine but if I just pin the throttle it dies if I give it a few braaps then go it's fine and it's like that on snow two

I'd put my $ on a lean bog. What do the MCX kits have for a fuel controller? Maybe the previous owner tinkered with the ECU?

No afr gauge, and not sure on fuel controller in it, very new to this turbo thing haha

The seat of your pants gauge doesn't work so well anymore I fear.

You're going to want to get yourself a good quality gauge that will keep you from running the motor to pieces and learn a bit about where you want the numbers to be, what they mean, and how to change them. Hopefully an MCX expert can give you a hand but it looks like MCX uses their own fuel controller (a good one too!).

Good news tho. YOu have a lot of summer left.

So confused on this hole turbo thing, first time Yamaha owner and first time turbo owner can any one make this easy to understand don't want to have to bring it to the dealer to get bent over thanks

Should have a gems controller ... Check and see what it's set at ... You can adjust it to get that big out ...

The turbo isn't going to be doing much of anything at idle and right as you peg the throttle.

I would ensure that you have compression, air, fuel, and spark.

Well hopefully I can figure this out before the snow flies, it runs good at high rpms besides needing some clutch work

Hey Jord05, did you ever get this issue resolved and if so, what was your issue? Mine 15 MTX with the MCX 190 kit is experiencing what appears to be the same problem. Dealer is stumped. They tell me they've tried plugs, new fuel controller, new TPS, adjusted throttle, disconnected TSS to name a few. Only happens when you spike the throttle when idling and it will almost always stall the engine. Thanks in advance.
