Whats your weight/riding style?

my weight is 300lbs and riding style is fast on groomed trails.................i notice i bottom when coming down a hill and then hitting the return back up.........the inertia of my body is pushing down the sled

I've had pretty good luck with the following set up:
1) move the pre-load collar up to the 2nd groove on the shock body
2)set the shock pre-load collar to the #4 position
3)set the dampening dial to about 3/4 to the hard side

I'm 280lbs without gear.
Hope this helps. 8)

I'm 211 and was riding with the c-clip in the #2 position and the shock collar in #6. It was still bottoming out far too much.

Today I just pulled the skid and shock and installed the heavy spring. It's a lot stiffer. I'll try it out in the next couple of hours (after I change a few more worn bushings I just found).

I would definitely recommend the stiffer spring for you.

As far as the sliders wearing. Mine wore like mad for the first 50% and then slowed down to a crawl, wearing slower and slower as the miles piled on. Now at 5300 kms there is 3mm left (out of 8mm) and the wear seems to have just about stopped. Recently I have been doing lots of low snow riding and they still haven't been wearing.

We're doing a 3500 kms trip next week and I think I will leave them. At the current wear rate they should last a very long time.

The new spring is exactly what the sled needed (for me and my riding).

It didn't bottom out once tonight and I didn't need to stand up when landing to control bottoming.

I installed it with the c-clip in the #2 position and the cam in #1. It's borderline too much preload, but I'd probably need #6 or #7 with the clip in #1 and it wouldn't give me enough preload with the cam in #7 when fully loaded for a saddle bag trip.

I'm very happy with it - huge improvement (although not as smooth on the smaller bumps).
