I have installed 3 vortech vavles recently. Part# 8D204-003 is the most recent.

This is a bypass right?

Is the difference just the opening point and what should we be using?

All 3 are on MPI 5lbs (22-26)

The valve on my sled is -011.
That would make it a bov .

Can it be adjusted to make it a bypass and is 4-5 inchs the right setting

I'm still running two modified TurboXS valves so I'm not sure if Vortech uses a different internal spring or not on the different part numbers. Ted Jannetty might know. 4-5" is not a concrete must have number. As in most cases it's a matter of personal preference. I've run every setting from 11" to 4" vacuum. I don't really know exactly where I am now for a setting. I started at 4" and tightened mine up until I started to get compressor surge (flutter) in my normal riding conditions then backed it off until it was barely noticeable. That's my personal preference.

Note: If you are not using a tool (MityVac) to set your Bypass-Valve the engine MUST be at full operating temp before you make any adjustments because the IAC is bypassing air until the engine reaches full operating temp.

Thanks
I have a mityvac and will check the setting
What does compressor surge sound/feel like?

On the centrifugal supercharger it will do this at both ends, partial throttle positions and throttle chop...chirp, chatter, flutter, surge...whatever you want to call it...it's a BAD thing to FORCE air back out across the compressor wheel.

Not the perfect example but the best "flutter" sound I could quickly find.
