I was in the process of doing my spring oil/filter change and I thought I'd have a look at the screen that I heard about that goes into the bottom of the oil tank.

Long story short, I didn't remove the oil hose, only unbolted the bottom elbow and while pulling it out cockeyed I broke a couple of the tack welds that hold the screen onto the elbow.

Any idea if this can be re-tacked, soldered or epoxied or will I have to purchase a new one?
The elbow is either galvanized or stainless and same goes with the screen.

I did find gunk/metal shavings on the screen so I don't regret doing it, I just regret the way I chose to do it :o|

I would think that the parts are stainless and would need to be tig welded. I would not trust JB weld.

I would just replace it why take the risk.

How many miles on your vector out of curiosity, haven't looked at my screen yet

I have 5000 km's or 3000 miles on it.

The screen had some stuff on it but nothing serious imo.

I had it soldered today at work and it feels pretty stout so knowing the oil temp won't get anywhere close to heat of soldering, I think I'm good to go.

Curious, does the oil leave the tank and go directly to the filter or is run through the engine first?
Not that I have concerns, I am just curious is all.
