Broken bottom gear bolt!

curious did anyone hear it rattling around in the chaincase before they found it was broke? I have just developed a rattle in my chaincase area while riding and was just thinking that this could be the problem...

this is why we need TY. I read of this over summer. been in the back of my head. getting sled ready for trip Wednesday. found a hole right out through the cover. an inch of locktighted bolt way in there still. been drilling for hours. getting updated bolt tomorrow. cant seem to find the topic I was looking for that went into detail about spacers etc. any better threads to read?

I was changing out my track tonight and came across a very upsetting piece...the 14mm bolt that holds on the bottom gear was laying at the bottom of my chaincase!

The gear slid off fine but the bolt is left stuck in the driveshaft!
I'm taking it to a machine shop along with my upper ball-joints (-2.5mm!) tomorrow.
I sure hope I can get it all together for the weekend now!

I've got 2800kms on the machine.

Has anyone else had a problem like this??

This is very scary!
Could you imagine what a mess it would have made if that bolt were to get jammed between the gear and the chain?!?!

I had the same thing happen to mine.. Had to drill and easy out the remaining bolt. What a pain but I got it..
