For the second weekend in a row, I greased the skid after the weekend's riding and saw the control rod is only bolted to one swing arm, flopping around on the track.

Last weekend the rear bolt came out ruining the transfer rod and this past weekend the front bolt came out. Fortunately, no damage to the rod on the second event. I can't tell what's happening -- whether the bolts sheared, unscrewed or what. Both nuts were nyloc, so unscrewing doesn't make sense.

I'm on my way to QC this weekend and I'm worried I'll lose the transfer rod again. These puppies are expensive!!

WTF???? Anyone have experience with this happening?

Had mine come apart on my last ride. Not the bolts that secure it to the pivot arms though. It came un-threaded at the body (jamb nut loose possibly?) and fell down into the track and mangled/bent it pretty good. Took it out when we stopped and rode another 140 miles for the day without it..no issues.

Here is something to check..make sure that the roller-bearing in each of the eye-lets (on either end of the transfer rod) are good and not binding up and maybe spinning the bolts. Otherwise I would suggest blue thread-locker, if not NEW Ny-loc nuts when you put it back together. Svc manual (and dealers) reccommend replacing ANY Ny-Loc bolt once it has been removed, even 1 time.

Had a similar thing happen to me, I lost two nylock nuts one trip, one on the front monoshock clevis mount and one off the transfer rod, fortunately the bolts stayed put. Replaced them with new nuts and put a drop or two of blue loctite on as well. Dealer told me as well, Yam recomends them for single use only!

had a similar issus happen to me.
The nut came off the front of the mono shock mount bolt. it was ugly. damaged my shock and front suspension arm. i used blue loctite on the nut when i assembled it but i guess i should have used the red stuff!!

Buy a new bolts and nuts...you should also make sure the rest of the SKID is tight..

Just leave it out

Be very careful, don't punch her to hard cuz you'll be lifting the skis 2' plus in the air...practicly undriveable! under acceleration. If you don't have any Loctite available just use KRAZY GLUE or simular high strenth glue! on thread.

Get yourself a longer bolt to be able to get 2 nuts on and counter lock them and they'll never fall off and loosen.

This happened to me and I know it was bolted with blue Loc-tite. I think it snapped. The bolt towards the front of sled cost over $3.00 from Yamaha and is a grade 10. It is now an upgraded part #. Leads me to believe that they have seen failures and upgraded the part. I could be wrong though. The one towards the rear is a grade 8 and that one snapped on me 300 miles after the front one.

I just found my transfer arm unscrewed last night. After of course I ran the sled on the stand until I wondered why the air was filling with track particles. The rod was taking chunks out of teh track as it bounced off it. Nice...

The transfer rod had come apart because I had only hand tighten the jam nut. I thought I was being smart to assist in easy trail side adjustments as I was getting this new sled dialed in.

So lesson learned...tighten the $%#@'en jam nut.
