I have noticed and people behind me have noticed a burning rubber smell coming from my sled at times. It is usually when I really get on the throttle. I am guessing it is the belt but don't know for sure. I checked the clutch area and did not notice any unusual belt dust. Any guesses what the smell is from and what I should be concerned about?

My ltx did it also, it is the closed window track, rubber heating up on hyfax, I installed SLP wear pads and the problem was eliminated.

Wouldnt it be a burning plastic smell guys not a burning rubber if it was the hyfax. I have never smelled both at the same time unless the hyfax is getting so sticky it is causing the belt to get hot as well. The burning rubber is a very distinct smell and it has been the belt for me everytime I smelled burning rubber. When I smell burning plastic it is the hyfax everytime and again a very distinct smell. I would be looking at the belt and clutching very closely burning hyfax second.

Put sled on a stand and runn track around for a while the rubber gets real hot and almost sticky, hard pack or poor lube conditons will give same effect, burning rubber smell seen it a few times on other yamahas ,

I got the burning rubber smell, but I installed the SLP wear pads before I even rode my sled. Changed out the stock belt and it is much better.
