I'm going to stretch out my 136" Attak based sled to a 144" length for next season. After converting my SRX this year from a 136" to a 146", I've found the extra length is a real benefit both on/off trail. Since we do most of our riding in good snow conditions in the U.P. of Michigan, I'd like to have a more versatile sled for those conditions. I recently picked up a new take off Nytro XTX skid to install on the sled.

I've got a Cobra track installed in the 146" SRX and really like the overall capabilities of that track both on/off trail. I've heard that the 144" Crossover track is another one to consider. For the conditions that this sled would be primarily used in, I'd like to stick with a track with up to 1.5" lugs.

I'd like to hear from anyone who's installed a Crossover track in your Apex/Attak based sled just what you think of this track.

Thanks,
Don

I absolutely loved my 1.5" 144 Crossover. It did well in the deeper snow, and did just as well on the trail. This is on my Supercharged sled. ( The day I was coming to meet you, that event was not a result of the track! lol ) It would be tough to run studs, but otherwise, I liked the track. Held up great to all kinds of abuse I gave it. I also run the U.P., the track handled all the diverse conditions that you know the U.P. offers.

I did have to remove my tunnel protectors to install this track because I didn't want to notch the lugs. Other than that, just another track to install. I probably still have some closeup pictures of the install if you want to see what It will look like?

Only reason I'm back to a 1.25 ripsaw is to run studs.

Any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I would like to see a 1.5 ice ripper, the 1.25 ripsaw with 114 down middle was useless in deep powder and even though the studs were only 1/8 over, there's lots bent pretty good. really hated to stud, just needed safety. plan to use ice ripper, but only see 1.25

Talk to Viper dave he has one, great track

I have a 1.5" crossover on my 151" '05 Warrior....and I have to say I love that track.

It handles deep powder with plenty of bite, but doesn't cause issues in the spring when the snow sets up hard in the early mornings. Traction on trails is superb.

I am running extrovert drivers, and the tunnel protectors were removed.

I now have 3 winters on it (approximately 3,000 miles) and zero issues. Still looks like new.

Thanks guys for your input so far. I'm still undecided which track to use, either a Cobra or the Crossover. Since I've never driven a sled with the Crossover, I'm just looking for everyones advice/opinions.

As yama_yooper mentioned, the Crossover track is available in a 151" length also. I've thought about having some 151" rails made for the XTX skid to use that track length, but don't know if that would be too much length for the trails unless the rails were tipped up like the stock XTX skid.

I do like the idea of the added hook up and flotation of the 151" vs. the 144".

I have 151" extensions for my ZX2 and I was thinking about running that 1.5" track for that. I just love studs and hate to lose them on the icey trails.

I'm thinking for the UP trails you ride the 151" would be great but if you ever ride in WI that would be a killer!

Dave had his 144 crossover and I had my 144 preditor 1.25 with 173 studs, he goy better hook up and way better side bite. Maxdlx

Hey gang! Just got back from vacation. I ran an unstudded Predator 2 seasons on my Attak and never liked the nervous feeling it seemed to have on everything but soft snow. I put a 1.5 Crossover on when I 144'd it. IMHO, it's a WAY better track in ALL conditions. Hardpack, ice, loose, UP powder, it just does everything better. When hauling down a grade at uh, a high rate of speed, it tracks straight and true. Icy corners, it has really good side bite. Mine has over 2,000 miles on it and looks like new. And I DON'T baby it. I think you'd be happy with it no matter the length you choose ;)!
