Ho Guys, I just recently bought a 2008 Fx nitro Rtx and it came with a complete stainless exhaust that comes out the back as 2 seperate mufflers and I would like to know who makes it so I can see if it's worth leaving on or not, it sounds sweet but has to be border line in my state.

That is nate007 exhaust. He designed the kit to sell and had about 50 kits built. The company that built the kit basically stole the kits and sold them on eBay for dirt cheap. They are an amazing sounding. When they sold the kits you only get the exhaust. No brackets clamps or hardware. The one major problem you will find with the kit is the clamps coming loose because the nylon inserts on the nuts will melt and no longer keep the clamps right. I have the same set up on my xtx but the header is cracked so I have to remove it because there are no parts available for it. If you decide to take it off please let me know. I will be willing to buy it as long as the header is good. Shane. 920-420-6577

Mine appears to be mounted very solid, no block for the tunnel but otherwise looks pretty decent, how tough is it to change back to stock exhaust? what has to come off to access the front pipes etc.. I really like the sound but think stock is a safer bet.

If you have all the stock parts it's a couple hour job. Remove seat, gas tank heat shield and exhaust. There is a crossmember that I had to remove to install mine. It rivets to the seat mount to hold the exhaust in place. If you need help with it you can email or call me. I have had mine on and off many times. Shanev1969@yahoo.com

So I do not have to remove the tank? and yes I do have everything to return to stock, will I take a big performance hit?

Yes the tank does have to come off. It's very simple. The hardest part I the whole thing is taking the manifold off. Let me know when/if you decide to do it and I walk you through step by step. Shane.

I am going to go start on it now, would like to ride with stock for tomorrow and not have to worry about local fish cops ticketing me

you might actually pick up a bit of hp going back to stock. Just slapping a pipe on a sled with no tuning usually results in less power in most of the rpm range (maybe a 1-2hp gain at high rpm) and creates potentially dangerous lean (hot) spots in parts of the rpm range.
That and I think that exhaust looks terrible. I would only ever buy an exhaust that exits out the factory location with stock plastics (like the hindle stealth).....buy an apex if you want dual exhaust and the noisy #*$&@ drone that comes with it lol

Make sure you have the exhaust donuts to put back in where the clamps go, there is a fiber donut or aftermarket copper

How is the exhaust coming? I tried calling you today to see if you needed some advise. Sorry it took so long to reply but I was out riding this weekend. Shane
