I ripped an eye off the cast front bulkhead where my A arm mounts. I was curious to learn if this cast aluminum can be welded.

Any thoughts? Thanks,
joel

Yes it can, my fathers warrior did the same thing, D&D machined a new piece because a chunk was missing and then welded it up. they did a great job

How common is this? I think this is the third one posted in the last few weeks. Better take a look closer look at my front end.

I believe the issue can be solved by checking your bushings, once you get slop in there things are twisting and banging that shouldnt be. I think as long as you keep your bushings nice and tight you should be fine

But will the weld hold on this type of cast aluminum? My welder said it's a high quality of cast aluminum, but I don't want to go thru all the work and have it break as soon as I get it back on the trail.

What do you think? Weld or replace bulkhead? And replacing the bulkhead is a pain in the butt....

thanks,
Joel

When my sled was brand new I had some play in the a-arms,I thought it was weird but thats how it came from the factory. I think I'm gonna get the bushing kit from ulmer or pioneer to tighten everything up this summer. Someone had said in a post about this topic about carbides catching going onto a trailer. I think that is a very logical explanation. I also checked my bulkhead, I have had that happen a fewq times, weird though never last year but twice this year. I try to shovel snow to make a ramp, might evn get some pieces of wood or something to keep in truck.

Also broke the bottom A-arm mount out of an Apex this past week, dropped down over a hill and the dual carbides on the Simmons Gen2 scraped and caught on the rock a lil and broke it.
