I am speeking with first hand expierence. I broke the a-arm mount on the bulk head. I welded a piece back in. I used 1/2 pate to replace the piece that was missing. It was a decent project to get everything lined up. It can be done, but you want a shop with a good rep. Cast aluminum is a pain in the a$$ to work with. In terms of strength, it all depends on the person doing the work. Done right, you won't have to worry about. I have tested mine a lot.
