My RX 1 still will Not Pull 10200 rpm as soon as it gets decent snow it
Turns into a SLUG. it will pull about 9600
goes ok but not great on roads or packed trails but so what. I would get a burst of about 10,000 but not a Instant Arm ripper
Clutch set up is Fairly Stock and brutal on belts burned up 3 in 1100 kilometeres.
They Should Swap to a Shaft drive extra Weight wont Matter I Cant lift it Already.
Any one Else Having This Belt Issue?
We Have GREAT Snow here Now but Still have not Got A
day with everything running perfect.

i have not run into that problem.... mine runs euivelant to a skidoo 800 /144... i ride with another guy who is about thirty pounds lighter than i am and he rides a skidoo 800/144.
i have done an exhaust mod, heel clickers, and some carb tuning.

the stock clutching will need to be redone if you are riding at any altitude at all.

i wish you luck.

attatched is a pic from arctic man where my sled had the high mark for three days with lots of other sleds around...... five polaris vert. escapes in the group i ride with

Snowmotion: You must have some serious problems with your clutchsetup if you managed to burn 3 belts in that distance! I´m still on my first belt and it´s as good as new and I´m not a smooth rider.

It sounds as if you're getting into high gear when you need the secondary to backshift. Tighten the helix 10* at a time and see how it changes for ya. Post back how you make out!

How exactly is your clutching setup? You said "fairly stock", but what is "fairly stock"?

Your RPM's are not suprising to me, but eating belts is NOT the norm. I put over 1600 miles on one belt last year in the mountains. I only changed it cause I was basically to lazy to adjust the belt deflection and I figured 1600 was more than my moneys worth on one belt.

Good suggestion and probably headed in the right direction. Plus it's reasonably easy to do on the mountain.

We still need to know what else is going on in the clutch though. Why is he eating belts?

Clutching and Gearing

Hi Snowmotion , I met you guys last year in January one sunny evening during the week comming home from the Powder Mountain Icecap. One of your guys or you was filming a snowmobile and rider that fell into a 180 ft crevace. Anyway he was following me , well not quite. Bottom line is Yamaha"s clutching and gearing suck please read my earlier reply on clutching gearing. Too much belt temp , poof there goes the belt. Lowwer the gearing and make it easier to turn the driven clutch. change your primary and get the revs right. I ride at Brohm Ridge most of the time, I now the snow and mountains you are trying to ride in . Embrace the change , change is good. I am still using my first belt and it is like new. Sled performance is exceptional!!
