Can't decide??

A stroker is a replacement crank with a longer throw, increases your displacement via the longer stroke. Depending on the crank manufacturer or designer, it could require possible machining of the block to clear rods, etc with either different pistons with a lower deck or shorter custom rods(since now they move more in the block at TDC and BDC) or thicker head gasket to clear the popped up pistons, etc.
This all changes the dynamics / harmonics / ratios of the reciprocating crank train that the OEM's have spend countless $$$ in R&D and durability validation to last the life of the sled. It's then a snowball effect on all the other components of the powertrain that then see characteristics they didn't before. Remember all the crank vibrations travel thru to the primary clutch... all the parts in between.

Note: Stroker cranks have historically been beneficial in various other motorsport engines, and we've used them in drag motors for years, but most of these don't have a long term durability requirement and only see competition use, so it's a gamble... They increase power thru the increase in displacement and torque from the longer stroke, there are companies out there with complete stroker engine packages that are tuned to work together. But ask your self, who in the world has more experience on your engine? The OEM?

????

How does the Apex RTX handle the bumps compared to the Nytro RTX? I know one is rider forward, and RTX means a little extra for the bumps, but how about the bumps in the turns, and the wash board stuff. One of the reasons I liked the Nytro originally is the abiliaty to stand now and again, instead of using the old kidney belt. Also with both being picked, which is better with the bumps around the corners. Heard complaints about the Nytro being top heavy. :o| Thanks again for the help

sheetwright,
You might want to start a different thread to ask that. This thread was discussing something regarding engine modifications, you might find a better response by starting a new topic, or reading through the hundreds of topics regarding handling issues. Not to be rude, but try not to hyjack threads..!:-)

I would use a better topic, so people know what you are asking about...

which dealer has the apex for sale?

Hauk has it for sale. It is in the classified section of TY. It is also under used sleds on their site. I was wrong on a couple things. It only has about 60 miles on it. It is running 220HP on regular gas, and higher on racing/premium. Check it out it is pretty sweet! I know a smoe guys have something against Hauk for some reason, but this sled looks bad #*$&@ and should be bad #*$&@! Tell Pat, Bill sent you if you talk to him :rocks:

I wish! It seems hard to find powersports guys down here. Not enough snow I guess. I usually go to Rich's for my normal stuff, but for aftermarket installs I try to stay within a 6 hour ride or so, and make a weekend out of it. You don't have anybody around here that is decent do you? Thanks for the input. Nice to see another flat lander on here ;)!

If i need something in a pinch, I go to Rich's. otherwise I will order from Port Yamaha and I will do any work on it myself. I wouldn't trust Rich's to put together my kids tricycle! :tg:
