Last night I was disassembling my carbs to clean the jets and such like I had done last year when I noticed a little rubber O-ring and washer had fallen out of the carbs. I do not recall seeing them last year when I was cleaning them and am lost as to where they go. Thank goodness I was using a large catch-pan to retain the carb spray or I would of never knew they fell out. I tried looking at the part skematics on the Yamaha site but it's really difficult to tell what is what. I was hoping someone here would know where they go and how they get re-installed. The rubber O-ring resembles the one that is used on the carb caps (the one you have to be careful with when replacing the slide springs) but is not as thick. As for installation goes, does the washer go first and then the rubber O-ring or vice versa. I am usually very good at paying close attention to how things come apart and go back together but this one slipped past me. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I believe it goes on the tube that the Main jet screws into. Not where the jet screws into the tube, rather where the tube screws into the carb

Sounds like the pilot screw washer and o-ring Check other pilots to verify.
Or post a pic.

If I had to guess, that would be the two places I was thinking where it went. Unfortunately, since I did not see them the last time I disassembled the carbs I was not expecting to find them this time around. Therefore, all 4 carbs have been disassembled and don't have the option to compare it to one that is still together. I can post a pic later tonight but the O-ring looks very very similar to the O-ring on the carb caps. Actually, when I found the first one, I just figured it was the O-ring on the carb cap.
RX1Bandit, if I understand you correctly, you're stating that there is suppose to be a pilot screw washer and O-ring. The washer is very thin and is the same diameter as the O-ring. If this is the case and that is where these items go, would the re-installation be the washer first and then O-ring or vice versa. I'm going to double check those skematics and focus on these two areas. Thanks again guys for all your help and info.

I'm now wondering if the washer and O-ring are for the air pilot screw. I'm not 100% positive but when I think back to last year, I'm not sure if I removed the pilot screw. This year I did and now have a washer and O-ring to contend with. I went back to those skematics and got this pic. Although it doesn't state the one part is a washer, it does state that number 8 is an O-ring. In this pic, that part below the O-ring sure does look like a washer. What do you guys think?

i think your right robx1, and i dont recall any o rings near the pilot assembly.

That is correct. You have the pilot screw then the spring then the washer and then the o-ring. The washer goes between the spring and the o-ring so it will push on the o-ring evenly and without hurting it.
Bandit is correct on this one! Put it together as he says and all will be fine if you adjust the pilot (mixture screw) correctly!

As always,
Thanks again guys. And yes, synching the carbs will be the last step.
