Do the carbed engines have a rev limiter? I was pushing close to 9500rpm on mine at times, probably from a worn primary and older belt. Newer belt was 9100 or so. Just wondering if I need to worry when it revs that high.

Maybe I just partially answered my own question. I have the Excell dyno chart that came with my header. They ran it on the dyno up to 9400 rpm. They show 124hp at 9400 which is about what mine ran up to.

I thought the 3 cyls, 973 & 1049 were right about 94-9500. Anything over that & the clutch could scatter. Hence the gear reduction on the 4 cyls.

You are over revving for sure. Peak power is 8600.

The 3 holer sounds sweet at higher rpm's. It has a distinct, throaty intake roar. This is becoming a fun sled. I set the transfer rod to 1 click from maximum. When it does get traction it freaking pulls hard! 20/39 gearing and 9100 rpm is a hoot! I need a better track!

The Excell header needs 9000 rpm for max hp.

Wow, ok. Still they aren't supposed to go over 94-9500 for clutch reasons. You should have been hitting it at 9500??

I don't think I was quite at 9500, probably more like 9300-9400. Yep, do not want to blow apart the primary! I'll post the dyno.

The header only make more hp than stock from about 7700 rpm. At the beginning of the run, 5800 rpm, it is down 5 hp from the stock header. I'd like to know how much it is down at like 3500 rpm.

That's large tube vs small tube headers. Lose low end in trade for peak power. Doesn't matter the engine, same results.
