Hi Guys, I have looked on woody's and studboys web sites and cant find where they make either the doolies or the deuce bars for the Slydog trail skis. No help from the dealer on this, triple points are mention alot on here, but, there are also many complaints about bergstroms service so I was trying to stay away from that.
Has anyone used doolies or deuces bars for another ski and modified them to fit the Slydog skis ?? I also thought I might weld 2 shapers together and make my own deuces bars. Any thoughts / comments, good idea or bad. :o|
Thanks guys

Hi V-force,

I'm not sure what model Yamaha sled that you're going to be running the Slydog skis on, but from my experience with these skis on a Apex or Attak I do not think that you will need a dual runner wear bar on them. The doolies seem to work wonders on the stock Yamaha skis, but with the keel design of the Slydogs, I do not think that you would be happy with them.

I've been running Slydogs for three seasons on Apex based sleds with either Shaper bars or Bergstrom Triple point bars, and they work great with either bar. The Slydog ski uses the same wear bar as the C&A ski, so have your dealer cross reference what you're looking for. I have had good luck so far running a 9" carbide Shaper bar or 6" Triple point Bergstom bars with the Slydog's, and they will put the sled wherever I point it without wearing me out.

As far as what you may have read or heard about Bergstrom's service, it's a one man operation and Scott can only handle so many calls. His products are top quality and you can't go wrong with either the Bergstrom or Shaper bars with the Slydog skis.

If you have any questions on how to set up your Slydog skis, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM. Ulmer Racing is probably your best resource here for Slydog set-ups.

I contacted Studboy a couple of years ago and asked about why they didn't fabricate Deuce bars for the Slydogs (same bolt pattern as C&As) and their response was that there was very little demand for them for that ski.

They said they would consider making them IF there was enough interest...so pester them to make them...and anyone else who wants them made should pester them as well.

Thanks for the reply's guys, VX1R I have an 07 attak, I put on around 1500 miles, 150-200 miles with stock skis and deuces bars, and they tracked great i really liked them. Then the the Slydogs came into the game, they have 9" shapers on them (I have 108 studs down the middle), I liked the looks and the handling of the slydogs better than the stock, Except I got a little wobble / darting and that part I dont like after the stocker going so straight. I also have a set of USI triple threats X2 with shapers on them, to ME, that ski is to rigid and aggressive, plus steering is more difficult than the other 2 skis, the X2 's wobbled also. I think my choose is the slydogs, I was just hoping to get ride of the wobble/dart. So it sounds like I have the same setup, does yours wobble/dart??

Have you checked the contact of your carbides? The wear pattern should be biased towards the rear. The ski shim method is described on the Tech Pages. I had to shim my Powderhounds to eliminate darting. I'll have to check where I put the shims, kinda' foggy this morning after eatin a lotta' turkey yesterday. I run Bergstrom Triplepoints , and I believe Scott reccomended a 3/8 shim in the rear. I remember using a 1/4 and it was better, but the 3/8 eliminated it. I too got my stock skis to run straight. I used 8" Triples and a 1/4 shim in the rear of the bumper and it tracked straight. BUT, the Powderhounds do everything better AND float the Attak and my 300 lb body VERY well LOL! Hope this helped you ;)!

Don't forget to set the TOW with the Slydogs. I have been running them for 3 years on my Warrior and love them. Went to the triple points after I got rid of the studs, and they work great. I don't use the shims or ski savers anymore. If I remember my skis are towed 1/8" in. There should be no tow or a little in.

My setup is same as SnoWarrior with 7.5 shapers, slightly towed in (1/8th inch)Slydog Raceskis 144 studs down the middle & have been very pleased. No shimming whatsoever
