I bought mine from another site member for $875 with a "0" mile ripsaw track. Try looking at some of the mountain guys, I have heard that a few of them have some new take out rear skids. If you need help with the install, let me know.

What track is on that Nate? What tunnel extension did you use?

Its a Cobra track and a Muffinworks extension, both purchased from Rich Motorsports.

The Cobra is a 1.325? I have the same track on my XTX as well and love it in the deeper stuff. It gives up a little side bite in the hard pack cornering ability, but its hardly noticeable.
The XTX swap took a while, mainly some head scratching to get teh ride height the way i wanted it, but since I have 2 XTX's, I was able to yank the skid out of one to make a template of the mounting holes. The XTX tunnel is much deeper than the DB2, so I had to make adjustments for that, adn make my own drop brackets. All told, I had about 15 - 20 hours in the swap including the tunnel extension, fabrication, head scratching, etc.. If I had to do it again, I think I could do it in one day?

thanks for the reply. im just looking at options right now, and the set up you have is exactly what im looking at doing. I will search out my skid options, like I said im thinking of going ZX2 or M-10 but would be nice to keep everything yamaha. I can see comparing to some buddy's XTX's that I have to do some fabrication with the drop brackets, but I have access to alot of tools.
atleast I know a ball park figure on what I should spend on a skid. I will keep my eyes open. Plus when I do finally make a decision on which avenue I take, if its the XTX skid, I will be asking more questions of you haha.
honestly I think Yamaha should have made this an option for 2010 an ApeXTX. I think it would have sold like hot cakes. I would have bought one insted of modifing mine. Basicly the only thing they would have had to fabicate would be the brackets. everything else they have on the parts shelves.
maybe this would be a good idea to patent an XTX aftermarket kit for the apex HAHA

We made the drop brackets from 3/8 aluminum plate. 5 x 12. All we used to make them was a sawzall and a drill. I just pollished them before installing them.
Far cheaper than a new sled.. Definately makes it a sweet ride.

Dude, if I can find a skid, I'm gonna ask you for some detailed instructions.nate007 said:We made the drop brackets from 3/8 aluminum plate. 5 x 12. All we used to make them was a sawzall and a drill. I just pollished them before installing them.
