I'm trying to remove the center shock from my 08 Nytro to send in for re valving but it seems to be much more difficult than it looks likeit should be. The 14mm nuts/bolts are really tight and I am having a hard tme getting into a good position to loosen them. Is there a good way to get to these? Also, the sled is up on a lift. Should the sled be on the ground if I want to remove this shock?

Just pull out the skid and make your life a lot easier. It's really not that bad

Use 2 ratchet straps and wrap them around the front and back of the skid. Use the straps to compress the skid. Take out the 4 bolts holding the skid and wiggle it out. I just did it for the first time and it was easy.

and I take it just compress teh skid again to get it back in? How much compression is on the skid? If my sled is up on a lift I would think the compression would be very little.

Not much. I may have compressed it 2 inches. I went until I couldnt move the ratchet.
Ya, I havent put it back in yet but, tie up the belt, compress teh skid and wiggle it back in there.
I also loosened the rear axle and adjusted the wheels in so the track was even looser.

No need to take the skid out. Just loosen the front limiter straps, because they preload the center shock couple of millimeters.

There's no need to compress the skid when removing, just rotate the spring pockets forward and lift the springs off. Rotate them back to the rear wheels and you'll only be working against the lift from the shocks. This is how I did my RTX every time and it was a one man job removing and inserting the skid. Another helpful tip is to use old hi-fax pieces or cut offs under the skid before sliding it out. It keeps the wheels from binding on the track cogs.

I'm guessing this should be done with the rear end lifted or does it not matter.
