Wasnt paying attention which side the seal on the bearing goes to. I believe it goes toward the chaincase (facing outward) but thats wierd to me. I ordered a sealed 6205 NTN from work and dont understand why they leave the seal off on the inside of this bearing? Does anyone know the concept behind this?

The concept is to keep the metal debris out of the bearing. As it does sit in oil all the time and the seal does not provide a "water tight seal" oil still lubes the bearing.
