I weigh 205 plus dressing,so probably 225lbs.Would changing the c clip on the rear shock be o.k. or should a guy order a heavier spring for 165.00. And 2nd or 3rd clip position?? My sag-in is about 53mm now dressed with shock set at #7( the last notch) so I need more spring or??

I know many are going to tell you to get the fat-boy spring, but personaly I would try the 2nd c clip position first. I'm 235 before gear and I'm very happy with the c clip on 2nd position and the adjuster at 4 or 5. If the 2nd clip isn't enough then I would go for the fat-boy spring.

I am 220 without gear, Ride more aggressive than most. I have riden it in 2nd clip then 3rd clip and now back to 2nd clip. all 3 times loaded with saddle bags and without.

2nd clip perfect for both saddle bagging and no sddle bags since you can adjust the collor a little stiffer to have the bags on.

3rd clip okay for bagging but too stiff for no bags.

My delaer told me there is no need for the big boy spring unless you are over 260 or so without gear and I think he was right.

I'm 205 before gear. I have my Attak in the second c-clip position. Cam is at #6 and RA at midpoint. Very seldom will it bottom out. So far works for me!

Where is this clip?? Can someone post a diagram with it... I am lost on that change.. Thanks

you can adjust the shock 3 ways:

shock can be mounted in 3 positions stock is 1st then you have 2nd and 3rd higher you go the stiffer it gets(Easier to have the dealer adjust it since it needs to be compressed, my dealer hasn't charged me)Some guys are adjusting themselves buy using a strap to compress the shock.

collar as 7 positions

then the dial fine tunes it.

I am about 210 before gear, and I bottomed out at will with the clip in the first position. Now it is in the 2nd and the cam is in the 5th position and I have even put some transfer into it and it is much better, I have not bottomed since, but I'm sure if I hit something hard enough it would happen, I would move the clip before spending the money on that spring.

Adjust shock 3 times??? the dial is one , mounting in three diff posistion is two , three is the dial? ,but this is rebound yes ! Anybody have a picture how and what to change as the mounting option??

Kurt Attak

By the way if you set the spring in second or 3rd pos. does it affect just the last part of compression or all the way ,I mean does get uncomfortable??

I am 240 and have been using the spring in the 3rd c clip position and love the way it rides, have only bottomed once in the last 250 miles.
