I am seriously considering changing to a 136" set up with Mountain Performances extension kit. Does anybody have any thoughts on this...good or bad?
Thanks,

Just installed a 136 expertx and a ripsaw, have yet to drive it but looks sweet. The Mountain Performance tunnel is superb and sits a couple inches higher than the warrior.

Just finished putting a Hartmann 136" kit and Ripsaw on mine. No snow so I can't tell you the impact yet also Simmons skis. Dealer is big time grass dragger in Ontario M.S.G. Racing, so he is finalizing with BBY stage 2 kit and taking with him for fun to races this weekend. Going to see impact of Holtzmann springs also.

The one thing I did notice with the kit is the extention is about 3" higher than the Warrior leaving more room for the snow to move thru and also the suspension area is less cluttered with more snow space than stock warrior.

Just put the MPI stage 3 kit with the Ripsaw on my RX1. It looks very good. Totally different sled than a warrior. It is really a XC sled now. Much more travel than a Warrior. My only recommendations would be to do it yourself, otherwise it will cost you a fortune. I had it done and it took approximately 18-20 hours of labor. I know some people on this site said they could do it for 6 hours, but I called MPI and they said their experience techs would be 10-12 hours. My Yamaha mechanic has never done one before, so it was longer. I am very happy with the results and cannot wait to try it, but because of the all the extra expenses, I will be keeping my sled for a very very long time. I planned on keeping it anyway, but now I have to. If you cannot do it yourself, then I would sell and buy a Warrior. I will try anything once, but I think if I had to do it again knowing all of the costs involved, I would have sold and purchased a Warrior. If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to email me and I will be glad to help.

I put the Hartmann on. It's a pretty nice kit. But I think that they're both nice kits. I don't know how the MPI kit it, but the Hartmann is fairly easy to assemble. The only thing I haven't done is cut the plastic trim to fit over the plumbing. All in all, it's been one of the easier jobs this past off season.
When doing it, probably the biggest pain would be the actual track change. This is due to having to pull the drive shaft out, which in turn means chain case off and clutch off, and hoisting the track and skid as you change them out.

Cool guys, thanks for your input. I'm pretty sure I will be doing this and I am excited as hell about it. Doesn't sound like it will be too much of a pain in the hoo-ha. I've done one track swap before on an SRX and I think the RX is about the same, it took about 6 hours start to finish for a virgin like me. I am pretty confident that I can handle the task fairly easily...I hope!!

Yes, I would agree that it does take some serious time. The crappy part about it all is that you have to take the chain case off. This means parking brake, main brake, you have to pull the clutch off the other side and the speedo.
I am no experienced mechanic, and it probably took me close to 12 hours total, but I did have some guidance from two mechanics. Pain in the butt, but it's worth it.
I did the Hartman kit.

Gilby the Hartman pictures show the rear bumper going all the way under the rear black covers from the running board. The bumper is flattened on the inside but if you use this as a guide it will not reach long enough to go under the black plastic and the ends will show which looks unfinished. I flattened the bumper further and pushed al the way under . Looks a lot better.

Boston, I hope you were not thinking of me on the 6hr install on a stage 3 kit... I could do a stage 1 kit no reverse in 6hrs, but then again, I have done a few... A good sled lift goes a loong ways on this kind of project.

I just installed the 136" MPI kit in mine along with the Ripsaw. The quality seems very good. You just know that you're going to put more horsepower to the ground with this set-up than last year's POS track. I found the installation to go very well. I'm doing my son's SX now. People on here are more than willing to walk you through any problems.
