My friend had his starter pack it in on his nytro and so we began the big job to get it out. From the searching on here we found we had to take the motor out.We managed to get the starter out without removing engine,sub-frame.We took off rad, airbox, steering post, oil tank, drained oil & coolant, seat, gas tank.We left the exhaust manifold on motor and after we took the motor mount bolts out we just tilted motor ahead and pulled starter out.The magnets in the starter came loose and jammed it up.Just thought i would share the info incase anyone has a starter issue and has to replace, this should save you some work and time...

My starter puked last season...all my magnets were broken and came loose...I also sheered the nose off teh starter and wrecked everything to do with the starter...$2000 later she's good as new..was told Yamaha has never seen a starter puke like that on a Nytro..
