solution
just to let everybody know this problem was caused by a large chunk of snow/ice slamming into the belly pan at around 20 mph. The belly pan flexed inwards smashing all of the electrical plugs and the housing. Solution belly pan protector 100 Canadian obviously, new rectifier 450+ Canadian, new battery 140 CAnadian and tie wrap the plugs down not much room for belly pan to go when it happens aswell as no play in wiring around alot of tight corners...And just to redeem myself after getting towed out of bush by Polaris...3 days later towed 2 skidoo's off lake 4 miles from where they left their clutches...later

Skid plate was the first thing I added to mine.. before I even started the motor. Pulled it off the truck and started drilling.

Just a note for those that install the skid plate. My understanding is that this is something that has to be removed each time you change the oil. A skid plate is good insurance, but having to remove it to change the oil is not something I had planned on.
Like LB stated a skid plate is good insurance, we had to remove two bulkheads [three pieces] this season due to hitting rocks. Thats about a $3500.00 bill, and if you didn't have insurance ouch! . For a hundred dollars having to remove a few bolts is a whole lot cheaper. Not to mention gives you peace of mind knowing it's protected.

Six philips-head bolts to remove the skid plate, less than # on the side panel to drain the oil tank.
Removing that stuff is a minor step in the oil change process compared to changing the oil filter in my opinion.

Put the skid plate on and leave off the phony cover that Yamaha put on if you don't like to remove more screws. Had a stick go through the cover before I got my skid plate and stuck in the coolant hose below the motor.

There's what... 4 crappy bolts on the *cover*? And you have to remove how many on the skidplate to get the same access? TWO. Seems to me that you are saving work by adding a skidplate.
Go over to "MOD RESULTS" check out "LOW COMPRESSION PISTONS" these pic's are by RX Warrior. Scroll down to the last pic,see the bulhead and how thin and open it is. When you wack it and damage it you will be pulling everything off that RX Warrior has off and a whole lot more to change that bulkhead out!. Or be smart and cover it with the skid cover for a about $130.00cdn and don't sweat it. If you are creative and have a long arm, you could use a hole saw and have it very removeable very quickly. I belive someone has done it and post it here somewhere. :exc:
