Cheap alternative to Yamaha Filter

In a time crunch years ago , Went to Walmart and got a high milage Fram filter. Was the same as my old Yamaha R1. Cheap and worked fine all season .

Dosen't matter once the property's in the oil are broken down through use that's it.
No more protection.
I was referring to nydiver's post. Agree with you, better to store with fresh oil.

The last thing you want is old oil from the past season sitting in your motor all summer.
Its corrosive protection property's in the oil are gone at this point.
correct, acids from combustion residue are in any oil in any four stroke motor from the first time you start it after and oil change until you change the oil again. so the least amount of acid from combustion residue would be after the first start up after the oil change. this is why I change my oil just before putting the ol' girl to rest for the summer.
