Chris Burandt is a Crazy person!

Wonder how many sled he goes through in a year?

I noticed at 3:20 to 3:24, a big hunk of bark missing off of one of those trees and there were previous tracks there that were more than likely his?

Not taking anything away from the guy, he is probably the best in the world right now, just what they usually show us is the edited version.

They have quite a segment on him in slednecks 13. As for how many sleds he has im not sure. I would be willing to bet 5-10 different models of sleds. He has a 20 year old riding "buddy" that they show in slednecks 13, right after burandt's segment, and you see him crashing alot. Not saying burandt doesn't ever crash or hit trees just saying it could be his riding partner.

But either way both riders are amazing at boondocking.

Not sure on the whole story, but he is no longer with cat, went to polaris for this season.

Polaris offered him a better deal, more exposure, and will still allow him to devote a lot of time to his "Burandt's Backcountry Adventure" gig. I think that pissed off 'Cat.

It's like free agency. Got's to go to the highest bidder/ best deal sometimes, I guess.

I'm not sure about the new Pro RMK he drives now, which of course he says he loves in the sled mags, but his M8 last year was stock everything (skis, handlebars, skid) except an added Boondocker Turbo installed on it......

To me that says a lot about that M8 -- that stock it could handle his riding, and even more, he was satisfied with it "as is," and he is the best boondocking rider out there IMHO........

Man, does he have mad skills. The control he has over he sled is amazing!!!!!!

:-o :-o

I've wondered that too...... Just how many free sleds does a guy like Burandt get a year? And do they come with the Turbo as part of the deal? I think he said somewhere he installed his turbo himself on his M8.......

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!!!

Wouldn't doubt he installed it himself. Anyone who has skills like that has been riding a long time... long before he had sponsors and free sleds. Plus- when you head into the backcountry (without a full camera crew and heli's) you HAVE to know your sled and how to repair it- could be the difference between living and dying. Not like breaking down here in MI on some trail where you just wait for someone else to come along and at least give you a ride. I go out west about twice a winter and love it- would live out there if I could. It's a different world though- much more dangerous. Reminded of that every time I go.

He has a performance outfit called VOHK that builds his sleds. No doubt he COULD build it, but this guy is a mountain machine wizard. Read an article about him in , I believe, SnoTech. Happenstance meeting out riding like Burandt does and it developed into a longterm business and friendship.
