Cleaning K&N filters

What's a good way to clean K&N Filters? I think mine are dirty as it won't hardly idle, but if I lift my hood the idle comes right back. Hot soap and water work?

go to autozone and buy the k and n filter cleaning kit. its like 12 bucks. the stuff works great

still it shouldnt change with the hood open unless your hood vents are plugged .

Hot soap and water let them air dry never put compressed air threw them it will ruin them. Make sure you oil them that is important but sont over oil either The K&N kit is the best way and has instructions
