Last year I tried to run duponts on a ripsaw quiet track, and the duponts chewed up my clips. Just like a lot of others which are clipped only every third. Never had this issue with the old uhmw hyfax. The track is in great shape overall, and so are the studs. So the question is if I have the dealer reclip all open windows, will it last close to factory clips? I'm sticking with the old style hyfax and using wheels now instead. I heard that these clips put in later aren't as strong as sock, but wasn't sure if that was reflective of a weekend warrior doing it with a cheap clip tool in his garage etc?

I think it'll be fine clipping them. I clipped my stock ripsaw and ran it a year with extrovert drivers with great results. Might be a different story with the power your putting out though? I guess worse case is replace a few clips here and there.

Dealer here recommended a fully clipped track before installing the dupont sliders .....

I fully clipped my track myself 5 or 6 years ago when having extrovert drivers installed.

I have had zero issues with any of the clips coming loose.

I saved a ton by buying a quality clip tool and installing the clips myself, versus paying the shop to have some high school kid do it.

I ordered the fancy clip tool once, and what should have been 15 clips. They sent me 15 bags of clips. I've got a ton of the clips and good tool.

Sheetwright, if there was only some way we could hook up I could get you set up.

Hey I got it, you live about 4 miles from me! :-)

I'm in Oak Lawn, shoot me a PM if you want to buy some clips and borrow a tool.

depending on miles and conditions you ride in all of our group has had to replace track clips on our apexes I have a tool for doing them its the style that looh kinda like a set of bolt cutters (two handels that come appart ) they work great and the replacement clips are just as good as the originals that were on the track from the factory . it seems to me that around 4500 miles on the apex is when we needed to replace some around 10-15 per season till all were replaced and this was before duponts were even a thought. I dont think they cause the wear on the clips i put them on my xtx and they went all season last year and im not even considering changing them for this season and my clips are all in great shape. the wear on the clips is from dirt/sand in the snow/snirt we sometime have to ride thru and down time rusting. also if you dont pay atention to the condition of your clips and they are wearing thru they scrape the heck out of your slides
