The pics of the long track sleds are cables.. goes by "throttlecable" over on snowest. From what he has said it is a front mount turbo, no muffler, exhaust is dumped right into the tunnel. The tunnel looks like an LCC or van amburg style tunnel, not much new there.
The front end is supposed to be the gen 1 of the new geometry. The USCC guys run the newer gen 2 version that is black and has sway bar attachments, and the sway bar is above the lower a-arm as well.
I sure hope they make this available. They should make the kit 1400 bucks for the new subframe, set of a-arms, tie rods, spindles, and body stuff.
For that price, I would buy it.. well, it depends upon what shocks it takes..

Maybe the reason They got booted from the stock class is the redheaded step child is scared of what a four stroke is capable of. Whats next, ban a four stroke from racing a two stroke?

They did do well in the IMPROVED classes. Note they didn't race in the stock, production class, that is where the issue was with the front end. The results clearly show the Nytro has potential once it is improved in the handling department. Too bad they are not putting these improvements into the 2013 production models.

The size of the running board tubes look large enough to have coolant running through them?
agree with that. rear coolers ? sure can`t be having all that ice hanging around back there on a race sled !

Did any of you guys ever think maybe they will only put the new front suspension on the 2013 FX Nytro RTXSE and then add in to the rest for 2014? That is the sled they race after all.

Great results and an excellent post. Yamaha should put a race-ready replica of that winning sled on the show room floor.

Those belts are ski brakes. You slip them over the front of the ski and drive the sled down really steep hills. You actually have to use the throttle to make the sled go down a steep incline.
And yes, that is Cable Wilford's hill climb sled. It's running an Ulmer turbo with an undertunnel exhaust. 250-300 HP depending on where the boost is set.

That would make sense to me but I don't see that happening. From the Yamaha Sled Talk Blog: "The end result yields a chassis with improved high speed ‘manners’, read into that what you will. Now I anticipate a few questions arising from this post so let me jump ahead a bit. No it is not going to be a production model in 2013. Is it planned to be a production model ever? … certainly not in its present form."
You can find the post in the Jan 25 blog. The way I've seen Yamaha address problems over the years is by responding to peoples complaints. If enough people make their voices heard they want a new production front end that actually handles, that will be the only way it happens.

My "reading between the lines" from the sled blog is the race front end gives up something to get those high speed manners. Sort of why some of the other OEM's use race chassis' that they don't bother selling as a consumer sled. They suck for the average rider.

I can't see there being any downside to the new front end. It addresses the biggest issue with the Nytro chassis and that is handling. Erdman is second in points in the USCC 600 open class so that shows me it works and it is holding together. It isn't like the stock front end has a lot going for it. The stock parts are weak and flex too much plus it doesn't do anything well. If the new front end/kit wasn't so fricking expensive I'd be working every angle I could think of to buy it. However, I'd much rather see the front end as a regular production part so if you break an a-arm, replacement parts are readily available.
I'm sure there are patent issues. My understanding is Ski-doo has the patent on the direct steering post connection to the spindles using only two tie rods. Same set up as every four wheeler. Yamaha and Polaris have to use a drag link off the steering post to actuate the tie rods. Not sure what Cat is using? In any case, it looks to me like this kit puts the Nytro on a far more level playing field with the other OEM 600's. That would make me like my Nytro again.
