Have the 05 apart to put the turbo on and while checking clutch alignment the Maxximum center to center tool shows the distance at least 1/8 inch short.

Is there that much forward movement to adjust on the motor mounts? Thanks

268.5mm or 10.57" c-t-c

I'm at 264mm. I guess what I'm asking is; will the motor mounts let me move that much? They don't seem like they have that much movement. Thanks

solid rubber mounts, center to center cant be changed, the motor can only be moved side to side, the way it comes from the factory is what you get,we have found that its better to be a little short on c-t-c anyway ,it allows for more shift out on top end,if too tight you will never close front clutch far enough to get good top end speed, along the same lines,we set a scribe to scratch the frame from motor off to full load on top end to see just how much the mounts actually let the c-t-c distance close up under full load and it moved less than 1/8" so i really cant see a need for the engine stiffener either....hope this helps

c-t-c

the c-t-c should not move hence the torque limiter if it moves 1/8 of an in thats all most 3 mm out of spec. that cost you a lot of hp that could be delvered to the track idealy it should stay in spec even under load. i have found a few that have had performance problems. that have only that the center to center has been out by as much as 6 mm and i had to ajust them forward ahd just like that the perforemce came back in spades ;)!

hey black john....explain to us how you change the c-t-c distance.....i work at a dealer...have had rx1 engines out of frame...mounts are solid rubber...no way to move the c-t-c distance that i see...you can move engine side to side a little bit but not back and forth......i see your point on losing performance if the c-t-c distance moves too much but my engine moved about 1/16"...on the other hand if you c-t-c is too far you lose topend big time and thats what we have found by binding up the motor solid you lose shift out on topend and around here thats a biggie,we run lots of rr beds and lakes dont care as much about 0-50mph as we do 80-topend.....i have mysled set up for the ice right now and as soon as we can test i'll let you know how much the engine moved under these conditions...the extra traction should makes the mounts flex to the max.....talk to you later

c to c

i had to show my dealer as well. just lossen the three moter mounting bolts and you will find that the moter will move back and forth. i found that i could not even get the clutches in paralel with eack other untill i did this as well. the closer you get them to run in alinement and stay there the more effcent the clutching will be. of those that i have check i have found most to be out. and as i have had lots of mail from others that have found theres to be out as well. once ajusted the perforemace comes back to were it should be. note that we chased this last year as we were lead to beleve by yamaha and its dealers that this could not move after a drmatic loss in perforemace and lots of trips back to the dealer still no satifation. them we started checking for ower selves and our gages would not even fit over the shafts and the off set was so far out of paralel. we to run top speeds here lots off long runs on lakes on of the lakes we run on has 3300 miles of shore line and flat ouy runs of 18-20 miles. and i have seen speeds on the dream meter of over 140 mph even with it reading high that still fast ;)!

Black john is right .The engine mounts are solid but if you take a look inside were the bolt go in there is some free play.Under load the engine moves forward because the engine is on rubber mounts. When the load is releast the engine goes back in place as if nothing happend.Anything that contain rubber do move. That is why we are using the engine stiffener.By doing this the engine stays in place under load.Hope this helps.

Since the engine moves forward under torgue, would it be better to set your center to center a little long? Maybe 1mm?

I was having a brain cramp when I measured mine @ 264. It is actually @ 269 from the factory.

Alignment is fine though.

black john thanks for the info ... i work part time at rogers sport center in ft kent,ME,i work there this friday,i will for sure check this out ,,speed runs on the lake this sunday, will be testing sat then radar runs on sunday,i will let you know how i make out,hey you learn something new everyday,my real job is a appliance/refrigeration/lawn and garden repairman for sears but in the winter we work 4 days a week so i took the part time job at rogers to fill the void in pay,its a blast working on toys all day long....139 on my dream-meter is the highest ive seen 2 mile run on portage lake on groom trail...never hit 140 tho... oh well when i get myc-t-c right it might then ...take care
