Hey all, new to snowmobiling so sorry if this is a REAL newbie questions. Have about 350 miles on my new sled, and new belt. The engagement RPM seems to have risen some, and the belt sits lower in the secondary clutch by a few mm.

What should the engagement RPM be, or put another way, at what point to I think about shimming (or adjusting) the clutch for belt wear?

The engagment is now approching about 4000 RPM...

Thanks for your help.

My sled engages at 3,000 rpm and has since day one.

Only 250 miles your belt is just getting worked in I would give it a bit more time before you start shimming it ..4000 rpm is high , you could try another belt first just to see if the issue is still there...

Well, I may have "helped" it wear in, as I took my wife (120 lbs) myself (150) and my son Luke (60 lbs) on a ride on groomed trails, but we found one that wasn't really broken that went up to IronBound Mountain west of Moosehead Lake. The sled went fine, but I tried to go slowly so I wouldn't scare my wife.

I think I may have burned some flat spots in it.

It turns out that Nancy was having a great time, relaxing on the back, and faster wouldn't have bothered her.

I have another new one, and I may put that on and see if there's a difference. The other one is certainly fine to use as a spare... (not to get into the used spare debate!)

John
