Baseline-SRX 290 tune with anti-lag Dalton Ramps

Have done some testing on ice with a few inches snow cover with a VBOX Sport.

My 0-60mph times were abit slow from spinning
1320ft 124-125 mph consistently
Top speed 126-128

Zero belt issues and clutches are just warm not hot 650 miles

I have gearing so plan to gear higher as I have 22 and 24 top and 34 and 37 bottom.

For the secondary should I go Dalton Black/Orange or Black/Tan spring?

Primary spring I always have gone with high engagements with my 2 strokes but I’m new to Yamaha and 4 strokes and feathering the flipper instead of jamming it to the bar from a dead stop I’m not use to at all!!

Should I go with a lower engagement Dalton Orange a slightly higher Black/Green or higher again Black/Teal?
As I’m gearing up this should help some of my spinning issue so perhaps higher engagement with each step of gearing higher?

Tough bunch!! lol
I know some of you have tried what I’m doing just thought someone might pipe in as what not to bother trying.

Not really a tough bunch at all, but we have no info on your entire setup. helix, belt type, who’s tune (that makes a big difference). Then you limit yourself as to what spring to use? With gearing I say neither of the springs you suggested.
24 top tooth and those bottom gears you listed will never work together. You would be geared for 160mph?
Actual gears you plan on running please?

Leave it alone sounds like it runs good, doesn’t sound like it needs anything ,maybe better studs and suspensions set up for less spin, Chisels, triggers etc and ride.

Helix and belt stock Tune is TD
35/39 and 8JP TD multi-bundle running maxspool17 and now and again maxspool20
22-37 gearing be installed.
24-37 be just for speed runs

Have 192 triggers 1.450 transfer rod blocks removed and a full linq tank on back for traction.

24-37 gearing will need some changes IMO. Personally I would ace the 35/39 in favor of a straight 35 and a stiffer secondary spring. Just a hunch tho.

You Canadians sure like those tall gears. Is no one afraid of blowing a track up there?

I can't say I've held a trail sled open for 1/4 mile. The one time I did, the track parted ways at 132 and ballooned the crap out of my turbo RX-1 tunnel.

192 studs is a lot of studs to be slinging around at big speed!

24-37 ain’t that good for about 150 with no overdrive? Lol

So, what spring would you choose for secondary as you shot down the stiffest two for Yamaha haha

Not to speak for ClutchMaster, but he is running a Cat STM Orange in his at the moment with high gearing. Those Yamaha springs don't provide enough side force with high gears, traction and power.

Go look under Cat pre 2005 torsion springs at Dalton, Pick one. I've been using the White and Black/Lime as have others with great success. More helix will require more spring to keep a grip on the belt. Ice conditions you can get by with a lower pressure spring, snow conditions will require greater force. It's all condition dependent as with any clutch package.

The Dalton BLK/ORG is actually less than the stock spring. The black tan is a little stiffer than stock.
With those gears you need to slow down the shift and clamp the belt hard. Secondary dictates belt tension. You’ll need more tension all around with that huge power/high gearing. If there’s any snow at all you’ll need to use a fairly stiff spring. Sheet of clean ice, use the dalton black/tan? Some trail riding and snow on the lake I would not go less than the cat dalton black/lime. Those are some huge gears, with big power, if you get in any loose stuff it will overshift.
I’m not much of an ice racer guy, you might be able to lighten up a lot more than that on clean ice? Ask Knapp.
For any bit of trail riding tho I would run a very stiff spring with that kind of gearing and a XS or DN belt.
