O.K., guys......what's the quickest, easiest (and, of course, cheapest) way to lower engagement?

Here's my situation: my clutches blew up last season.....actually snapped the jackshaft right behind the secondary at about 8k and took out both clutches......I was running Heavy Hitters and they were dialed in perfectly. So I bought used stock setup from fellow member (LANEO), and they are fine EXCEPT engagement is around 42 or 4300. With the torque of this motor, I'd like to lower it like a 1000 rpm or so. Options?

This is on an 03 LE w/ECP & Evap.

You can lower engagement by 2-300 by running smaller rollers & a spring with less preload;but 1000 is gonna be tuff. You can run a short cover primary spring in your tall cover but it,s gonna be hit & miss to find the right running rpm,s.

Any chance you have got a short cover with the clutch running a tall cover primary spring? That would raise engagement by a lot. Just a thought :-)

Yes it will and also raise engagement by a 1000 rpms at least.

BTW - Back in the SRX days dragracing 660 ft we used a specially made long spring that would not coilbind running a short cover, it gave us 5000ish for engagement for psyko holeshot out from the start plate.
