I'm Running an apex turbo and was wondering if i should upgrade to a 4 post clutch such as the micro Belmont or the supreme tool clutch. Are there any gains to running the 4 post as opposed to the stock clutch. I mostly use the sled for lake running and radar runs. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

For lake or Radar Running there is a destinct advantage in efficiency and ability to tune to prefection.
A Rage 4 at 1250.00 is a Great Deal for the best clutch available, comes with all tools and shims to work on it, accepts any of the OE clutch parts or similar.
There is also a lot to be had from the Supreme tool Tuner secondary.
With the power these sleds are producing I can only trust the Yamaha Clutch so far then it is time to upgrade before something bad happens.

Are you having any clutch heat issues right now or problems maintaining proper rpm,s? if not you really don,t need it yet.

Clutch
Not having any real issues yet, i have noticed some grooves forming on the primary clutch which jim said happens to the yamaha clutch. I plan to put more power to this sled so thats why i'm contemplating an upgrade.

Turk he just likes spending $$$$$ and being the fastest out there, watch out, his sled is probably sleeping right next to yours in Jim's shop and he isn't going to be happy until either he is king of the lakes around here or there are extra holes in his pistons!!!!!! and I've seen a few lately,,(including mine, well mine were just melted a bit)

If you think there have been fast Yamaha's at the Ball Licker before, just wait.
There I think I've just poked the sleeping dog...

Guys Please don't go this route it will raise Havoc.
Stay with the stock belt and tune your clutching for it.

BL will be interesting this year to say the least, which is about all I'm going to say about it.
T2 sleeps alone right now, but I'm back in Wpg @ midnight tonight and have much to do before next weekend.
BTW, Bob just called and we're going to be able to run in semi-pro this weekend.

Depends on what you want, if your heavy the Bearcat diameter with longer belt works great gives you a lower gear, good for longer than 660 runs.
If you can trim some weight and are racing 660 on Ice only the stock diameter works well.

Man ted on my stock Yamaha clutch i had a ton of belt heat and slipping, went with a softer belt. Heat is all but going and sled pulls better down low.
(((The Yamaha 8DN belt is very hard and has a high amount of slipping, which will create heat and loss of acceleration. (The only "good" thing, is that it will last forever). Harder is not better for performance. We use a Dayco Ultimax that is softer, this enabling us to get the drive belt to the top of the Secondary Sheaves on the driven clutch. Dayco has a one year warranty. Buy "two" and you have a lifetime supply of belts. Read the back of the belt sleeve, less slipping is "Free Horsepower".))
Just some info from Hartman...

Turn up the power you have to turn up the Clamp load on the Belt, the softer belts will start to distort side to side, causing a cupping and loss of contact and eventual failure.
The higher the HP the harder the belt you need.
But I hear what your saying.

Clutch
Anyone running a 4 post clutch like a supreme tool one or a micro belmont, I'm curious about the tuning of them.
Thanks
