cobra in xtx

re

I just bought a 2010 xtx and have read a lot about people not liking the ripsaw track. I was wondering why the change and for what condition, trail or off trail? thanks in advance. :o|

i'm changing to the cobra because i'm putting anti ratchet drivers in and the rip saw is only clipped every 3rd hole i beleive  ihave a couple buddies who run the cobra and they love them.as for the trail tank im waiting on that for a bit .other mods instead

i put in on for better off trail performance, no studs here

Tracks usa guy said on hardpack ripsaw, off trail cobra hands down. I also wanted the fully clipped track for extros.

cobra

I ran one on my XTX to gain offtrail ability. I thought the track was able to hook up really well on hard pack, every bit as well as the ripsaw. I felt the Cobra could really rip through 10"-12" of powder conditions we rode. It seems to be able to plane out well giving you more of the floating feeling while in pow. I think they track is an excellent compromise if you ride a lot of fast trail but also get off the beaten path a good amount too. I would say it is a good crossover for a 50/50 kind of mix.

I also had a chance to ride a 2005 RX-1 mountain with a 151" Crossover 1.5" lug. Different sleds but I thought mine pulled every bit as well in the powder yet better on packed. This season should be interesting because my bud will be running a 1.5 Crossover on his Nytro.

I think the Cobra is a great UP type rider's track.

How does your buddy like the Crossover on his Nytro? I'm tossed up over the Cobra or Crossover. Live/Ride in New England. Variable hard pack conditions and I try to get off trail as much as possible but....It's New England. The Ripsaw is aweful off trail.

Thanks!

I had one on mine last year and I liked it. Much better off trail, and I could slide the back end around just a bit more in the corners

I installed the camoplast 1 3/4" backcountry track on my sled two years ago and i am quite happy with it. I do lots of trail riding and have found that the track has held up well....haven't lost a lug yet. The downfall is that you lose some top end, but it sure grabs out of the hole and off the trail.

Cobra with 114 - 1.450" Woody's Megabites. Excellent track choice for the crossover guys or anyone running in loose snow conditions.

I've got over 3000 miles on my cobra. Love it on and off trail.

On trail it lets the back slide some, the ripsaw never slides.

The ripsaw does just what it says, saws down thru the snow until your stuck. The cobra works much better.

The first reason I was going to upgrade the track was off trail reasons. As I searched/asked/researched around, I wonder why the ripsaw is on the XTX in the first place?? Honestly I'm 60% trail 40% off. That being said, we ride a ton of tight winding, beat up, snowcross condition trails in the Northeast. Camoplast and Track USA said it was a real coin-toss between the Cobra and the Crossover. The bigger lugs on the Crossover appeal to me for the off-trail but I don't want to take away from the trail capabilties. And I'm thinking the Cobra is a better trail track with more than enough off trail performance. :o|
