I've never been a fan of the Ripsaw and I'm not sure if I like the Ripsaw 2 much better. It is just too grippy in the corners. Around here the trails are so tight and twisty, one of the reasons I went back to a shorter track, I need a looser grip in the corners and still have traction in the straights and stopping.
I had a 1.375" cobra on my Nytro XTX, and a 1.5 intense on my Nytro RTX and they were great improvements to getting the back end to "give" a little.
I'm thinking about putting one on my Viper RTX SE.
Anyone have one on their Viper? Opinion?

gonna say, mine breaks loose on icy corners constantly. Was thinking of going with a 1.6 ice cobra.

Ice....I assume your taking about the ripsaw 2. We been lucky enough to get tons of snow and cold weather. I bet we have a 1 foot base of frozen, hard as a rock snow. By the afternoon traffic will loosen it up a little but then the groomer goes thru and it's a ribbon of concrete by morning. What a sucky problem, right. I know a sound like a whiny little bitch. Guess I'm not used to having it so good.
Anyway....
Even after the snow loosens a bit the ripsaw 2 just grips to hard laterally and then when things get loose enough to slide the track it won't grip or stop when going straight.
I guess I'm looking for someone running the cobra and see what they think of it on the viper before I drop $500.

Strange, my experience has been just the opposite. My Switchback 800 had a Cobra and I always felt like it gripped too much on corner entry. I find that the RSII slides very predictably on corner entry thereby allowing me to better point the front end where I want it and also helps to keep the inside ski on the ground... but it only slides when I'm really giving her the business and not when just when cruising. I liked the Cobra a lot better in hard pack as it seemed to have more grip in those conditions... I've scared myself a couple of times getting hard on the gas with the RSII coming out of a corner and having the back end of the sled come all the way around on me but only when standing up...
I guess I just prefer the RSII overall as compared to the Cobra.. granted I'm comparing these tracks on two completely different sleds so who knows.
