My buddies 40th Apex showed 42 & 84 codes yesterday. 42 is the speed sensor but the manual I have shows nothing for the 84.
Anyone got any ideas on the problem other then checking the speed sensor.

Did he rev it up without the belt? If so put the belt back on and make the track spin again and it will go away.

I just had this happen last week, see my post a page or so ahead. It was related to my throttle body not returning to closed position properly due to some corrosion buildup. Cleaned and lubed so it snaps back when releasing the throttle.

Got the story on the codes now, he removed the speed sensor hoping to ride odometer free, no luck. The sled spit out the codes and wouldn't rev until he reinstall the sensor, all is well now.
