So went for a good ride today just shy of 250 miles. Worked great other them my nos switch not working for some reason. But yeah came home went inside for the hours forgot to turn my bottle heater of. Went to start it wouldn't start boosted it. It ran drive about for hundred feet it just died out. Towed it in. Charged it for five mins and same thing happened four times. My battery is low yes. But engine light came on with code 81. What could this be? #$%&* :o| :o|

If the battery is on it's way out it will not stay running. more than likely it's your battery.

could this be the ignition module. unpluggedd the powercommander and plugged it back to stock. still same problem.

Check to make sure no wires are melting. I had a wire melting by the hadlebars that was used for heated shield showing a check engine light and idle low. So if that code is grip warmer make sure all wires are ok in that area.

Starting to think it's the ecu or the voltage regulator. Any thoughts on that? Well check writes there tomorrow. But it will start and by the time I do 600 gets just dies out. Let it sit a bit will run then same thing. Sounds like it's missing once in a while. And the guages keep testing while the sleds running as if the key had just been turned to power.

If you have car charger put it "Engine Start" and start the sled. If the battery is weak it will do what you are describing. You need to to give the battery some real juice to really test it. I really think the battery may be your problem. How old is your battery?

2-3 years old maybe more not sure exactly. but its fully charged now left it over night yesterday, and im still getting the same thing. would a weak battery really cause the displays to keep resetting even while the sled is running?

Yes I believe so. I to had mine on the optimate 3 charger and I thought the battery was ok but the battery was dead. If you have a charger that is for a vehicle hook it up max volts and try it. I bet she will run fine. You have same syptoms mine had a few years ago. Now I have optimate 4 and it will tell you if battery is good/weak/Bad etc..

Hook it up to the jumper cables and leave the vehicle charger on max volts then start the sled. The sled should run fine. The second you disconnect the charger sled will die. I really believe this is your issue bad battery.

it will idle and run on the battery. i only get this trouble when im reving up, usually past 4k rpms. itll start right up on its own battery juice and idle no problem.

but i will give this a try anyways. im really thinking its my ecu, and that i might have damaged this while boosting this from an rv (only because it was right next to where my sled died out the first first time.)

oh ok. that is a defferent symptom then. check the airbox and make sure you have it clamped on properly. All boots are on properly and sealed. It sounds like you may be sucking in air.

Is this issue on an 06 Apex? Any mods done? It still could be the battery so check it. you very well may have a short in the hand grip warmer. either in the element itself (more than likely), or the wiring is chafed. sometimes the grips being held tightly spin alittle while riding causing the element wrap to fail, grounding the wires in the heater. I would seriously look into the grip.
